Report: Russia wants to make foreign IT firms open local offices
MOSCOW, Mar 18 (PRIME) -- Russia is working on a bill to oblige foreign IT companies to open representative offices in the country and introduce requirements to their work, Alexander Khinshtein, head of the information policy committee at the State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, told the Parliamentarian Newspaper on Thursday.
“We’ll listen to the industry’s opinion, because we’ll have to introduce amendments – work on the bill is in progress to ‘land’ foreign resources, it will oblige them to open representative offices and branches,” Khinshtein said.
“The rules, requirements to work of foreign tech companies in the Russian Federation will be written down.”
